Haunama Bay

This is a great spot for snorkeling.  You can snorkel forever and still see new species of fish.  They are much different then the fish that you see at Sharks Cove.  Both spots are worth snorkeling.  When you first arrive you will pay $1.00 to park in the lot.  The park opens at 6am and closes at 7pm.  Matt and I will be arriving at 8:00am.  Once in the park you will pay $3.00 for admission.  You will then watch a 15min video about how not to step on the coral and destroy the bay.  Once that is done you can either walk down the sidewalk to the bay or you can pay $.75 for the shuttle.  Once at the beach pick a nice spot to camp out for the day.  Once lunch comes you can take the shuttle back up to the snack shop where they have many items to pick from.  We would recommend that you bring your own food because it can get very expensive. (Typically $15.00 a person for lunch).  We will be snorkeling all day until 5pm.  Enjoy.

Directions:

Waikiki Directions:

To get there by car, get on Kalakaua Ave. and follow it through Waikiki and around Diamond Head to Kahala Ave. Follow the signs on Kahala and it will take you right there. Alternately, you can catch TheBus - #22 from Waikiki, which will take you to and from.

Town Directions:

*Take H1 East towards Diamond Head.  H1 will end and turn into Kalanianaole Hwy. You will be heading into Hawaii Kai.  This road goes on and on for about 20min.  Towards the head it will start to head upwards.  Once this happens keep going for about a minute and then on your right hand side you will see the entrance for Haunama Bay.

If you would like to see the blow hole and the cliffs then continue on Kalanianaole Hwy past Haunama Bay's entrance and it will wind around and you will see the best sites ever.  You could stop at the blow hole and turn around to go to the bay.  Enjoy.  You can take a lot of scenic pictures on this drive.
